Services > Pressure testing > Pneumatic test
The pneumatic test is an alternative procedure that replaces the hydrostatic test for the performance on pipelines that cannot or are not allowed to be filled with water. A pneumatic test implies that the fluid used is a gas, usually air or an inert gas such as nitrogen.
A pneumatic test is more dangerous than a hydrostatic test due to the higher accumulative energy content of a compressed gas, and this type of test is limited to lower pressures or smaller systems.
For testing large high-pressure systems, a low-pressure pneumatic test can be used as a leak test to detect leaks after the entire system has been assembled.
We at ITP Service use a Booster (up to 350 bar) and on-site nitrogen generator by membranes.
